  • I won this anthology in an online blog sponsored contest I would not have purchased it, because I was not a reader of romance novels Was as in past tense I read the Mammoth Book of Scottish Romance on a long train ride through Italy and really enjoyed it The stories ranged from sweet to smoking hot There were three I particularly enjoyed After the Gloaming by Leah Marie Brown is the story of a super sexy American and a doomed to loom Scottish banshee It sounds like a far fetched sotry but this o [...]

  • SPOILERS AHEAD Mmm, a few good stories, but anyone familar with me will know that if there is one thing I cannot stand, it s cheating Unfortunately, this anthology had an alarming number of stories where the man cheats, or at least sleeps with other women The one I hated the most The Wolf Crag one Nice He goes to the mainland, she follows, he sleeps around the country, she finds him in bed with not one, but TWO women, he LAUGHS AT HER, she leaves, they meet again, she takes him back No gorram wa [...]

  • I actually really love these gigantic anthologies, and I am a sucker for medieval Highlanders, so there was plenty of reading here to keep me out of mischief for a good long time Since I read out of order, I was surprised to find that the authors I was familiar with and read first were not my favorites of the collection Oh and since I tend to read on the contemporary side of romance, it was odd to read about so many first times for the heroines. My Favorite Highland Heart by Heather McCollum thi [...]

  • Okay so I have decided I really do not like these kinds of books They get you involved in characters and before they can give you a good story, it ends I know that is the point of short stories but it seems I am just not a short story kind of person It took me like 4 months to get through this That being said, there were quite a few good stories in this book Most of them towards the end The good thing is now I know a few authors to look into.

  • Bought this mainly because Anne Gracie has a story in it I ll add ratings for the stories as I read them, in descending order of enjoyment Sandy Blair s Her MacKinnon the soul of a laird murdered 500 years ago re enters his drunken slob descendant s body in a car accident Perfection 5 stars.Connie Brockway s The Laird s French Bride a young girl arrives from France, where she has grown up, to check out her fiance, who she hasn t yet met in person, in Scotland Excellent story, well realized chara [...]

  • 20 stories of Scottish romance are included in this book The book had stories from all different times from past to present Some of the stories I would reread others were good, but I would say they ranged from 3 stars to 5 stars Were any horrible, no A very minor few wish were longer but most had enough for the story to feel complete Will keep this book on my keeper shelf as would read again.

  • I honestly don t know what made me buy this book perhaps it was the incredible price I got on it, for if it had been any expensive I m definitely sure that I wouldn t have bothered But I was curious so I picked it up I m not into historical fantasy Scottish romance books at all, and although it only took me about a month to finish this, it seemed like it took forever Yes, the stories are short and sometimes painfully so, but therein lies the problem The ones that I really liked and there aren t [...]

  • After being extremely disappointed in the Mammoth Book of Time Travel Romance I started reading this expecting the worst Surprisngly i actually really enjoyed it.They were a few stories that had me shaking my head but maybe its my Scottish blood, you cant beat a medieval highlander in a kilt lol BUT also had modern day stories as well, which were enjoyable, except for the fact i wanted to knock some sense into the women a man cheats once he will cheat again and the excuse he was trying to find [...]

  • I was happy enough with the book I enjoyed most of the stories from past, present, and future Scottish tales It was a great fix for a Scottish Romance buff like me I really enjoyed At Last by Jacquie D Alessandro, The Laird s Vow by Anne Gracie, Kidnapping the Laird by Terri Brisbin, Kissingate Magic by Annette Blair, Her MacKinnon by Sandy Blair and The Laird s French Bride by Connie Brockway. What I liked the most about this book was that it wasn t a repetative series of stories all taking plac [...]

  • The Anthology curse strikes again Maintaining coherence and quality through a sheer 21 stories is no joke, and unfortunately they were disappointing I went through almost all of the short stories but the book is much a mismatch of Highland cliches, unpalatable plots, strange twists this one is a big passThere is however, one sole silver lining Connie Brockway s The Laird s French Bride The author takes the chance to tell the much realistic and believable story of a 22 year old young laird and hi [...]

  • I can t say what it is about Scotland that captivates me Perhaps it s the mystery, or romance, or the myth, lore, and legends Or perhaps it s visions of handsome, rugged Highlanders dancing in my head Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the stories To be honest, there was not one bad story, which was a nice suprise as you never know what you re going to get with a book like this one I can t say that one particular story jumped out for me, but I am looking forward to reading books by [...]

  • If you enjoy a good Scottish or Highland romance, these short stories are worth the read I enjoyed about 1 2 of them immensely and the only reason I didn t enjoy the other 1 2 as much as I could have was due to feeling like the author got to the max page count and said, OMG, I have to stop now Many of the stories could have transitioned into wonderful full novels.Totally loved Donna Grant s Forever Mine, Connie Brockway s The Laird s French Bride, Sandy Blair s Her MacKinnon, Heather McCollum s [...]

  • This was a really good book I liked all the stories and the brilliance of the highland warrior There were maybe one or two stories that weren t great but overall I enjoyed reading all of them This is another book I would like to have on the shelf Action, adventure, brogues, kilts, mysteries, emotions, courage, brave and bonny heroes heroines, and enough steamy scenes to melt frost This was varied and interesting Stories from way back when to nowadays and one into the future I enjoyed them all an [...]

  • March 18, 2014 Still a great book As I said before, there are stories that i liked and ones that I didn t Reading it the second time helped me to appreciate some of the details that I missed the first timeJune 26, 2013 Overall, the stories were amazing A couple of them were a little rushed or felt incomplete but even so they were very enjoyable.

  • I liked this book better than the Irish Romance and Regency Romance Mammoth Books There were several of the stories I really liked as well as some I didn t like at all Some of the authors featured in this anthology are authors I follow and I enjoyed their stories as well as finding a few new authorsto enjoy.

  • This was a fun fast read I love anthologies It s always fun to read short stories meet new authors This was my first Mammoth book and I enjoyed most of the stories, some were definitely better than others I think the editing could use a thorough re check At 600 pages 20 different authors a few mistakes didn t bother me much.

  • I would give this book a 3.5 if I could Though I did not enjoy all of the stories, it is a well rounded book that will have stories for any reader who likes romances centered around Scottish characters The collection featured stories from different time periods, some included magic or supernatural elements, and some were quite humorous.

  • Usually when there is a bunch of stories put together in one book, it not usually a good thing You would end up with stories ranging from really bad to really good But, I was pleasantly surprised in this book, The Mammoth Book of Scottish Romance In my opinion, the stories ranged from good to really good And, it doesn t hurt that most of the heroes were sexy Highlanders Mmmmm

  • 3.5 StarsSeriously, this is one of the most exhausting reads I ve ever done Some stories are a little on the mehh side, some palatable, and some are just downright awesome One thing I would ve liked though was for some of the stories to be longer and detailed A few were poorly made one was so anticlimactic when it you expect something grand to happen

  • I usually pick these up so that I can discover new authors And I do but often I find that I would like the story if it was a full fledged novel Favorite Story Magick in the Mist by Debbie Mazzuca

  • I really enjoy books like this where I get to try different authors and get a feel for them For the most part the stories were good and I liked them But by far my favorite story had to be by Sandy Blair It s a same this woman doesn t have books out because I d buy them all.

  • I bought this book for the Anne Gracie story and it is the best of the bunch Skip the first 9 stories completely so routine and just boring Number 10 is okay and they get better from there on I almost dumped it in the recycle bin at the halfway mark but the quality did finally improve.

  • I m not sure why I keep buying requesting these anthologies Most of the time there is only 1 or 2 stories that actually hold my interest, and this one is no different My review of this one boring.2 stars D

  • These authors are no were near as good as Donna Grant Her story stands out above all the rest The stories are a little to short for my liking overall I enjoyed most of the them I m not certain I would buy any of the mammoth books though.

  • I enjoyed this collection of stories for the most part One or two of them seemed a bit simplistic, but others were very good indeed A definite must read if you have a love of strong men from Scotland.

  • I am rating this one high as for a book of short stories I liked it overall The English spelling error really got on my nerves Even short stories should have been proofed The earlier half of the book I liked than the later half.
